Only two months have passed since the events of the third volume concluded, and this fourth volume has started off as well as it possibly could, diving straight into the emotions, at least for me. I was somehow anticipating the moment, as I sat in fear of the worst, but I feel relieved that things have fallen into place in such a way that I can be at ease, even if only for a short time.

I was eager to dive into the story, having started the volume just a few days after finishing the third, but at the same time, I was terrified, aware that things would happen with which I would disagree and that would break my heart, once again. Yet I told myself I was strong and would handle it with grace… well, I am weak, and although I didn’t cry my eyes out, it still hit me hard and devastated me because I didn’t expect what I read, even though I had anticipated some events.

There were moments when everything was so beautiful and peaceful, enjoying the serenity, when suddenly… bang, chaos ensued, all the peace was disrupted, and I was thrust into a crazy race of battles and tension, fearing for the lives of the characters once again, and I began praying that nothing would happen to them, otherwise I would lose it… Not to say I didn’t, but still, I’m a peaceful person, so I want some chill… This volume exploded with action and kept me on the edge of my seat with every page turned, even my sweat was induced by the tension, as if I had taken part in the characters’ battles and not just watched them from the couch.

I enjoyed both the present moments of the characters and their small memories, allowing me to form a much broader opinion and to appreciate them more than I had before; I got to know them very well and understand each action, although I didn’t agree with all of them, unfortunately. However, I realized that’s just how things go, and that’s how they should be, so I resigned myself. I became attached to each character to varying degrees, and it pains me to have to part with them now, but I will definitely return to the series in the future to reread it, to reunite with my favorite characters.

Each character suffered, whether it was a loss or betrayal, the feeling of being sidelined and neglected, albeit not intentionally, but to ensure their necessary protection. Despite their hardships, all the characters demonstrated how strong they are and the tight, almost unbreakable bond that was forged between them, showing the extent of sacrifices they are willing to make for their loved ones. It’s a bond based on trust, support, respect, acceptance, but above all, love.

I sensed the couples forming throughout the story and I can’t express how thrilled I was when I noticed the long-held feelings being expressed and they allowed themselves to be vulnerable. They allowed themselves to share moments of love and affection during that time of war, full of dangers and threats. My heart burst with joy and I giggled like a teenager whenever a coveted kiss appeared… oh, how you stirred me with love, Cristina… you gave it to me bit by bit, but when you did, oh boy…

I particularly adored Valikia and Gavin; despite their constant bickering and teasing each other in their own special way, which brought a smile to my face, when it comes to confrontations, they complement each other perfectly. It seems opposites attract, right? Or maybe they truly form a couple worth watching… And I chuckled and exploded with delight watching them.

Djaka, like Alastair, despite the arrogance that characterized her, surprised me immensely with her actions; I didn’t see them coming, and she showed me that for the beloved, any sacrifice is worthwhile, even risking losing them, as long as you know they are happy, even without you. I came to appreciate her and, at the same time, feel sorry for the fate she had, hoping that things would turn out well for her, but it seems it was a vain hope…

Ayla, too, won me over and became one of my favorite characters in the series, wishing for her more than the story offered her. My heart ached for all she endured, and I wished I could offer her solace, even more than that, but it was beyond my capabilities, unfortunately. It seemed to me that she was the most tortured character, considering her past, and I wished for her to have something beautiful.

Two other secondary characters who earned my admiration were Tarvo and Connor, not only for the support they offered to Jay, but also for their behavior and mutual support. Reserved in actions and gestures, they were more than they let on, and I truly enjoyed their brief appearances.

As much as I adored Caedra throughout the series, she frustrated me greatly in this volume with her indecisiveness. In a way, I understood her, considering the situations she had been through, but on the other hand, I wanted to shake her, to gather the courage necessary to own up to her feelings and not be so hesitant, partly aware of how much she hurt those around her. However, Jay and Alastair really surprised me; I didn’t expect some things from Jay, and I “smelled” Alastair’s actions, so it wasn’t such a big surprise, but it was a small shock how Cristina chose to end the story for the three characters. It was a real surprise…

Each character had an impact on the others, big or small, and their relationships evolved from one volume to another, which is most strongly felt here, as unexpected feelings arise and doubts appear. Their relationships spark jealousy, but at the same time, appreciation; they experienced betrayals, unforeseen situations, betrayed trust, but also support and understanding when needed.

A final volume done right: fast-paced, loaded with shocking and unexpected moments, a plethora of emotions, deception, lies, sacrifices, battle scenes, and much more. A series that captivates with each volume read, compelling you to wholeheartedly attach yourself to the characters, to feel close to them, as if they were real…

I can’t wait to read more titles by you, Cristina, and I’m thrilled that I discovered you through Delia, adding another series to my favorites list!

Abby Jimenez a făcut o impresie tare bună la această primă întâlnire cu scrierea sa, “Friend zone” reușind să mă cucerească și să mă convingă să citesc tot ce va lansa. A devenit autobuy author de la prima carte citită! ❤️

Kristen este o femeie independentă, are propria afacere, și un iubit perfect, înrolat în armată. Josh este pompier și paramedic, sosit în probă la stația orașului. Drumurile celor doi se ciocnesc, la propriu, pe șosea, ca apoi să descopere că sunt domnișoara și cavalerul de onoare la nunta prietenilor lor cei mai buni. Ce nu poate ieși bine din situația aceasta?

Dual pov, un pic de forced proximity, under one roof, he fells first, dar și friends with benefits, s-au întâlnit în acest roman spumos și încântător, de-a dreptul, iar personajele au fost extrem de carismatice, determinate, sarcastice, completându-se perfect unul pe celălalt în ciuda diferențelor dintre ei și ale dorințelor. Chimia dintre Kristen și Josh m-a cucerit instant și am savurat la maxim interacțiunile dintre ei, deși am avut momente când aș fi vrut să-i dau cap în cap observându-le ezitările, știind că fiecare eschivare și neasumare va genera ceva de proporții și va escalada drama, ceea ce nu-mi doream, căci era prea drăguță povestea și mă distram prea tare.

Cu toată drăgălășenia ei mă așteptam să se întâmple și ceva mai puțin drăguț, deja eram lovită la sentiment, însă ce m-a lovit în ultimele 100 de pagini a fost un marfar, nu alta. Efectiv am simțit că se rupe inima-n mine și m-a pocnit cum nu credeam că mă poate lovi o poveste, sfâșiindu-mă pe interior și activându-mi lacrimile. Dacă n-am plâns și suspinat, de parcă mi s-ar fi întâmplat mie și nu doar citeam, atât de bine au fost redate acele evenimente, dar și sentimentele personajelor.

Este mai mult decât un rom-com, este o poveste cu un mesaj ce are un impact emoțional puternic, iar acest lucru m-a convins să descopăr și alte titluri de-ale autoarei, căci nu caut povești obișnuite, clasice, ci povești care să mă atingă pe suflet, care să ma determine să empatizez cu personajele, să încerc să mă pun în locul lor, dar mai ales caut povești care abordează subiecte mai puțin dezbătute și cumva să mă educe, să-mi completeze cunoștințele deja deținute. Iar “Friend zone” mi-a oferit tot ceea ce eu căutam și puțin mai mult!

“El senor del hielo” de C.A. Todorova (review)

The action of volume three begins shortly after the end of volume two, the group formed finds itself forced to split up, some characters remain in Gea, while Jay, Caedra, Ayla, and Hadriel return to Earth on a new mission.

I liked that it didn’t waste time from the first pages, but rather plunged me into the heart of the matter, so to speak, which captivated me and made me read continuously for several minutes. The emphasis was also on the characters’ feelings, not just on the fast-paced action, and seeing them ‘strip down’ and confess their thoughts made me chuckle with joy, considering I was waiting for some confessions from the previous volume. The romantic in me is incurable, sees couples everywhere 🤣.

Characters who were in the background, for now, or mentioned casually, appeared and had a major impact on the story and the situations the characters found themselves in.

The characters have matured significantly since the first and second volumes, and this is clearly evident. Jay is more ‘mature,’ Caedra begins to trust herself and be more liberated in expression, Ayla, from a person limited in thought and actions, has transformed into an intelligent girl, always present for her new family, determined to become strong, not to be considered a disability, as she considers herself, and Alastair, well… he remains just as arrogant ☺️.

Although Jay had moments when I wanted to slap some sense into him, moments when he surprised me with his maturity. He had episodes when he behaved like a child and said stupid things, but at least he realized it wasn’t okay and apologized, even though the damage was already done… Jay, grow up already!!! Be a man!

At the first mention of Gavin in this volume, something struck me, wondering if he had been mentioned in previous volumes or not, as I had a vague impression of who he was, until it was confirmed that I remembered something, but I wasn’t sure. I was surprised by this character; he was caught between a rock and a hard place throughout the volume, and his actions were sometimes for, sometimes against, as if he himself wasn’t sure what he wanted to do until it became clear, completely surprising me and earning my appreciation, which I didn’t expect, considering the role he had at the beginning.

Leveann tested all my patience, he’s one of the most disagreeable, annoying, and cursed characters I’ve encountered in fiction, and every time he appeared, I felt my tension rise, I was like a thermometer under pressure, about to explode… Will this character ever disappear?

Cristina made sure to provide moments where my heart stopped with anxiety, shocked me, and made me pray that nothing bad would happen, otherwise, I think I would have lost it. And, to be honest, I really lost it a few times… What amused me was that, even in moments tense and critical, the characters didn’t give up sarcasm and irony, although danger threatened them at every moment. Other thing that I loved where the dialogue between Gavin and Valikia, oh my! How I giggled and laughed! Can’t wait to see more of them in the last volume!

Shall I tell you that I loved the fact that part of the action takes place in winter, more precisely around Christmas, my favorite holiday? How could I not love it, when everything is magical during that time?

I also mention that this time, Cristina’s artworks helped me a lot to visualize some scenes, and I stared at them for a good few minutes. I wonder how this series would look like if it were a comic strip or maybe a TV series… I think I would read and watch them continuously without getting tired.

This volume was like this: one warm, one cold, if on one page you laughed at a comic situation, on the next page the action hit you hard and completely turned you upside down, not knowing what to believe and what to do. I admit, I started reading with fear, and when I turned the page, I expected something I didn’t want to happen and tears to come, because yes… I cried reading this volume, Cristina played with my emotions and made me suffer, terribly sometimes, and I’m really worried about what will come in the last volume of the tetralogy, honestly.

Old friendships are renewed, support is found unexpectedly, and small love stories unfold… or at least that’s the feeling I had from the first pages.

A volume full of plot twists, betrayals, scenes that surprise or make you admire the characters, unusual friendships are formed and mutual respect is gained, with sweat on the forehead, literally, dangers at every step, impulsive and last-minute decisions, conflicting feelings and restless thoughts, affectionate gestures that melt your heart, but also numerous acts of friendship that demonstrate how strong a friendship can become. A volume where unexpected sacrifices have to be made, in the name of love and more…

“Încercările Reginei Soarelui“ de Nisha J. Tuli (recenzie)

“Pot să văd în adâncul privirii tale viața pe care ai dus-o. Nu ești nici proastă, nici neștiutoare. Poate că nu știi să dansezi sau să cânți la pian, dar bogații fac astfel de lucruri doar ca să-și umple timpul. Asemenea plăceri nu înseamnă nimic. Tu ai trăit, Lor!”

Lor a petrecut 12 ani în închisoarea Nostraza, asta până când este “salvată” și se trezește în castelul Regelui Soarelui, unde află că trebuie să participe la Încercări, alături de alte nouă Ofrande. Nu prea înțelege care e treaba cu aceste Încercări și de a fost adusă aici, știe doar că trebuie să câștige cu orice preț.

Să spun că am topit paginile acestei cărți e puțin spus, am zburat prin ele, așa tare m-a prins, că mă mâncau degetele. M-a prins de la primul capitol și am fost captivată de poveste cum nu mă așteptam, aici Lor a fost de vină, o protagonistă puternică care răzbește prin propriile puteri și care nu se teme de o confruntare sau de o pedeapsă atunci când știe că are dreptate. Însă are ghinionul de a fi prinsă în intrigile mizere ale Regelui Aurorei și Regele Soarelui. Am fost trup și suflet alături de Lor, fiecare sentiment al său, de bucurie sau tristețe, parcă ar fi fost al meu, așa intens am trăit povestea, iar celelalte personajele nu-mi inspirau nicicare încredere. M-am îndoit de fiecare în parte și încă mă îndoiesc, am sentimente contradictorii în privința lor, totodată mă și tem pentru ce o mai așteaptă pe Lor, la cum s-a încheiat acest volum.

Povestea mi-a amintit puțin de “Hunger Games”, cu competiția bolnavă, aici făcând excepție vânarea celorlalte Ofrande, iar acest lucru mă intriga și înfuria în aceeași măsură, simțeam că e ceva ascuns în spatele acestor Încercări. Nici Regele Soarelui nu-mi inspira prea multă încredere, el atât de fermecător și perfect, aparent, clar trebuia să fie ceva dubios în privința sa, iar nasul nu m-a înșelat, l-am “mirosit” cum trebuie. De Nadir, fiul Regelului Aurorei, sunt curioasă să aflu mai multe, nu mi-au fost oferite prea multe detalii, chiar dacă am avut parte și de capitole din perspectiva sa, este ceva ce ascunde și sunt nerăbdătoare să descopăr, la fel e și-n cazul lui Gabriel, păzitorul lui Lor, un mister îl înconjoară și curiozitatea mă macină, ascunde mai multe decât lasă să se vadă și parcă văd că mă surprinde în volumul următor.

Mi-a plăcut tare mult acest prim volum, mi s-a părut unul foarte bun, care promite o serie extraordinară, mai ales că n-au fost dezvăluite multe despre trecutul personajelor și un mister le înconjoară, plus că finalul m-a lăsat cu un mare semn de întrebare, dar și intrigată, totodată. M-am atașat de Lor cum nu mă așteptat, povestea nu a bătut deloc pasul pe loc, acțiunea este una extrem de alertă și te îndeamnă să dai pagină după pagină, dar și să urmărești firul evenimentelor cu sufletul la gură.

“Crimă în lumea anticarilor” de C.L. Miller (recenzie)

Deși colaborarea dintre Freya șu Arthur nu s-a încheiat în mod amiabil, când Arthur moare, Freya nu ezită în a se alătura mătușii sale în a o consola, dar și pentru a elicida misterul morții anticarului, întrucât acesta moare în condiții suspecte. Arthur îi lasă o scrisoare datată cu câteva zile înainte de deces, în care îi transmite anumite indicii privind unele obiecte de antichitate, dar nu numai… Oare vor reuși cele două să elucideze misterul? Vor afla cine l-a ucis pe Arthur?

Povestea a avut capitole scurte, fiecare începând cu un vorbă spusă de Arthur, iar acest lucru a fost un plus, mi-a plăcut tare. Ritm relativ alert, care îmbie la a continua capitol de capitol, determinându-mă cu greu să mă pot desprinde de poveste, a fost iar un plus și m-a captivat, activând gena inexistentă de detectiv din mine, poate cumva, printr-o minune, simt făptașul 🙈. Sper surprinderea mea, o parte din bănuieli mi s-au confirmat, însă de unele mici răsturnări de situație nu am fost chiar pregătită și m-au surprins.

Carole mi-a plăcut enorm, mi-a amintit de Miss Marple a Agathei Christie, avea un aer mai sălbatic, impulsiv, pe când Freya era mai calculată și rezervată în acțiune, prefera să gândească înainte, ceea ce Carole nu o făcea, ci lua totul ca pe o mare aventură. Ochiul apt și bine format al Freyei, în a recunoaște, dar și-n a observa micile detalii au dovedit cât de bine a fost instruită de Arthur și cât de capabilă este în a-și duce sarcinile la bun sfârșit, într-un mod cât mai corect și profesionist.

M-a încântat că am avut perspective multiple, astfel am putut observa mai bine fiecare posibil suspect, să-i aflu și gândurile pentru a-mi da seama ce legătură avea cu Arthur și rolul acestora în poveste, fiecare perspectivă dezvăluind câte un mic secret, care alimenta tot mai mult misterul.

Un cozy mystery tare catchy care mi-a plăcut maxim și care mi-a amintit de iubirea ce-o port romanelor Agathei Christie, un semn că ar trebui să revin la acest gen literar. Finalul mi-a lăsat impresia că ar mai urma un volum, posibil să se transforme în serie, ceea ce nu m-ar deranja, sincer, întrucât mi-a fost drag să le urmăresc pe Carole și Freya în această aventură misterioasă.

“La maestra de las sombras” by C.A.Todorova (review)

The action in ‘La maestra de las sombras’ takes place two years after the events of the first volume of the ‘El principe heredero’ series, and it was a delight to return to the universe, but also a challenge to continue reading in Spanish. It took me a little while to get used to it, but then it went smoothly. 😊

A new member, Valikia, joined them, and small tensions arose within the group. The first hints of jealousy were felt, and although I’m not a fan of jealousy, I confess I was thrilled to follow the characters’ turmoil and rejoiced when they found the courage to express their feelings. And it wasn’t just jealousy that was felt, but also feelings of doubt, that alpha element specific to certain species, which is hard to control when two different yet equally powerful characters clash. A little competition, I might say, making the group’s adventure even more exciting than it already is. Valikia wasn’t the only new character introduced into the story, there were others as well, some of which had a stronger impact on the story, while others had a smaller, but memorable role.

One scene that stucked with me and that I won’t forget anytime soon, don’t worry, it’s not a spoiler, was the one between Caedra and Valikia arguing. Imagine two roosters, one more determined than the other… well, those roosters were Caedra and Valikia, I’ll leave the picture below for you to see why I had that image in my mind…

The relationship between Jay and Caedra became stronger, which warmed my heart. Their support for each other always being there melted me, and the connection Caedra formed with Alastair, a new character who intrigued me to the max and whom I couldn’t wait to learn more about, was more than a pleasant surprise. Not only did the relationship between Jay and Cai solidify very well, but also with the other characters, each forming close relationships with the others, becoming like a family, and this delighted me.

I liked that I also had small glimpses into the characters’ pasts, their memories, so I could get to know them better, understand their feelings and observe how they were viewed by other characters, as well as how other characters saw themselves through their eyes. It seemed to me that this volume focused on solid character building and strengthening relationships between them, but I also didn’t encounter any events that left me feeling stuck or confused.

The fact that I had the artworks created by the author helped me immensely in forming a much broader idea of the appearance of the new characters introduced into the story, and I can’t explain to you the excitement I felt when I realized I guessed who the illustrated characters were. Such a cool feeling and at the same time an accomplishment, because somehow, I had anticipated who those characters were and I was glad that my attention was rewarded, but also that the details provided by the author did their job very well.

In addition to these, there were a lot of scenes where my heart raced or where I felt like I was going crazy with nerves, witnessing what was happening, and, oh, what I would have done to those involved! I went through all possible and impossible emotions, and I have a feeling this is just the beginning. The fight scenes were so intense and vivid that I felt like I was participating in them alongside the characters. I felt every effort they made to succeed, and the dangers they were exposed to… Cristina, give them a little break!!!”

There was no shortage of plot twists, dangers, lies, betrayals from unexpected sources, alliances, also unexpected but welcome, numerous unravelled secrets, and a plot that didn’t hesitate to pleasantly surprise me with each chapter read. I am both excited and fearful for what Cristina has prepared for the next volumes…

At 19 years old, Jay has his whole life ahead of him. He has a girlfriend, a supportive father and he is happy. However, he discovers that his entire life has been a lie and he is forced to leave to another planet to take his rightful place. He is the heir prince of Gea, but he has no idea what that means. Alongside his father, Hadriel, and Caedra, a being from another race, he embarks on the adventure of his life.

It was the first time I read in Spanish and I can say it was a unique experience. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this step with the series by @c.a.todorova. I admit that it was a bit challenging at first until I got used to the language and the writing style. Once I got used to, I gained more speed and the reading went very smoothly. I didn’t understand all the terms, but I had a dictionary by my side and I managed to get an idea of what was happening from the context.

The text is very well-written and it made my reading experience enjoyable. It felt like watching a TV series, with each chapter being an episode where multiple scenes intersected. The transitions between different settings were seamless, and I found it very captivating. All the events felt so vivid and I felt like I was actively participating in them rather than just reading about it.

I absolutely loved the dialogues between Jay and Caedra. They were humorous and sarcastic, considering the constant threats to their lives. They developed such a beautiful relationship, even though they didn’t know each other at all and they chose to trust each other unconditionally. Jay’s character development was remarkable; with each chapter, he grew little by little, earning more and more of my admiration.

I don’t have any objections regarding this volume. The author played with my emotions as she pleased. Just when I was enjoying a scene, boom, she served me a plot twist that completely turned everything upside down, leaving me unsure of what to believe and feel anymore. I’m so curious how the story will move from now one and I’m so not ready for it…

Și așa decurge o conversație “normală” între Inez și Whit, asta când cel din urmă nu aleargă după ea, căci Inez e pusă pe fapte mari și nu acceptă un “nu” ca răspuns, ci este determinată să prindă hățurile problemelor și ale dilemelor. Inez ajunge în Egipt pentru a afla adevărul despre moartea părinților săi, iar Whit este desemnat ca și “dădacă” de unchiul acesteia, însă socotelile lor nu se potrivesc cu cele ale lui Inez, iar tânăra ajunge să pornească într-o aventură egipteană plină de neprevăzut și pericole. Egipt nu ascunde doar frumuseți de nebănuit, ci și numeroase secrete…

Povestea m-a fascinat de la prima pagină, iar o dată ce am pătruns în adâncurile sale, m-a vrăjit complet. Încărcată de mister, o protagonistă care m-a cucerit cu prima apariție, un personaj masculin cinic, intrigant, pe care mi-am dorit să-l descos încet, încet, o aventură palpitantă și multe cadre unde am stat cu sufletul la gură, dar și unde m-am minunat de frumusețile Egiptului. Nu mai menționez faptul că ilustrațiile autoarei au adus un plus enorm poveștii și mi-aș fi dorit să fi avut parte de mult mai multe. Iar traducerea Loredanei a fost fără cusur, așa cum m-a obișnuit cu fiecare traducere a sa!

Doamne, că nici nu știu cum să explic tot ce simt în acest moment privind “Secretele Nilului”, n-aș fi vrut să se încheie și nu știu ce am să mă fac până-n noiembrie, când apare volumul doi, în engleză, la noi probabil va mai dura până se va traduce. Iar finalul… Cum să mă lase așa? Să mă macim de neliniște și să mă îndoiesc? Să-mi năruiesc toate speranțele și să dau de pământ cu toate bănuielile? Deși ador cliffhanger-urile, întrucât îmi mențin interesul în privința poveștii, de data asta aș fi vrut să fie deja apărut volumul doi, mă va bântui frământarea…

Am admirat-o pe Inez și mi-a plăcut modul în care a conturat-o autoarea, un personaj feminin inteligent, curajos, determinat, cu magnet la belele, exact pe gustul meu, descurcăreț și plin de iubire. De aceea cred că m-a durut și pe mine când au fost dezvăluite anumite informații și m-am simțit asemeni ei. M-am amorezat de Whit de la prima replică, un bărbat secretos, scump la vorbă, misterios, dar care demonstrează ce suflet mare are și cât de înșelătoare sunt aparențele. Domnule Hayes, vezi cum faci să te revanșezi în volumul doi că altfel, ne certăm rău de tot! Tachinările dintre ei, dialogurile, ipostazele în care au fost surprinși, tot am adorat și nu mă puteam sătura să-i privesc împreună.

“Lucrurile ascunse m-au fascinat întotdeauna. Iar tu, domnule Hayes, ai un secret. A fost de mult îngropat, dar știu că e acolo. Și, într-o zi, am să-l descopăr. Ia aminte la ce spun!”

Și nu este singurul personaj care ascunde lucruri… Toată povestea este bogată în secrete, unele fascinante, altele dureroase, o parte legate de mitologia Egiptului, unde se observă cât de profund a fost studiată de autoare, reușind să captiveze cu fiecare detaliu, o altă parte legate de personajele poveștii, însă totul a fost așa de bine balansat și m-a cucerit instant. Nu-s eu fana descrierilor, dar aici, le-am devorat și m-au fermecat cum nu mă așteptam.

“Secretele Nilului” mi-a trezit dorul de seria “Mumia” și “Indiana Jones”, cred că am să urmăresc ecranizările cât de curând, Egiptul este bogat nu doar în frumusețe, ci și-n mitologie, iar autoarea a jonglat perfect cu toate în această poveste. Intrigi, secrete, magie, evident mister, minciuni, trădări, personaje curajoase, un pic de dragoste, răsturnări de situație, acțiune alertă, crocodili, artefacte și multe altele m-au surprins în această poveste, căreia i-am acordat toate stelele posibile! Este extraordinară!

După un moment lung, Jacob răspunde:

⁃ Întotdeauna.

Se încruntă adăugând.

⁃ Dar dacă mori, n-o să ți-o iert.”

La vârsta de 11 ani Cassidy a căzut în râu și a fost la un pas de moarte, dar a fost salvată și-n urma acelei experiențe, dobândește abilitatea de a vedea fantomele, inclusiv pe salvatorul ei, Jacob, care-i devine cel mai bun prieten. A trecut un an de la acel episod, iar acum Cassidy așteaptă mult râvnita vacanță la plajă, dar visul îi este spulberat, întrucât pleacă la Edinburgh, în Scoția, iar apoi în Paris, Franța, unde părinții săi adună material pentru a realiza un show TV despre cele mai bântuite locuri. Evident că Jacob îi este alături la fiecare pas, iar aventura lor îi va bântui…la propriu…

Mi-am propus să citesc toate titlurile autoarei, m-am îndrăgostit de scrierea sa și am realizat că sunt tot mai atrasă de poveștile țesute de autoare, deci era musai să bifez și aceasta serie middle grade, care o are drept protagonistă pe Cassidy Blake, fata în vârstă de 12 ani, și prietenul ei fantomă, Jacob. Deși la noi sunt traduse doar cele două volume din trilogie, volumul trei am să-l parcurg în format electronic, am fost cucerită de la primele pagini de poveste și m-am pierdut cu ușurință în călătoria lui Cassidy.

Nu doar Cass și Jacob au avut parte de aventuri “spirituale”, ci și eu, căci i-am însoțit cu sufletul la gură și chiar cu piele de găină pe alocuri, povestea reușind să-mi transmită acei fiori reci menționați de Cassidy. A avut capitole scurte, s-a citit foarte repede, povestea este captivantă și curge de la sine, nebăgând de seamă când treceau paginile, brusc mă trezeam la final, când deja-mi doream să pornesc într-o altă locație, să văd ce mai descoperă. Am fost prinsă și hipnotizată de fantomele întâlnite de cei doi, pot spune că și înfricoșată după ce am aflat gândurile spiritelor neliniștite, temându-mă pentru ce curs avea să urmeze povestea și cu ce o va mai surprinde pe Cassidy, având în vedere că buclucul se ținea scai de ea, deși nu-l căuta…Sau poate da?

M-a înduioșat enorm relația de prietenie legată dintre Cassidy și Jacob, având în vedere că erau atât de diferiți, unul viu, celălalt deloc viu, reușind să se susțină, să-și fie alături și să se înțeleagă, doar aveau și reguli pentru ca prietenie să funcționeze la perfecție, ca să nu mai pomenesc de sarcasmul lor. A fost exact ce trebuie și mi-a plăcut maxim. Relația lui Jacob și Cassidy m-a trimis puțin cu gândul la filmul “Casper, fantoma mea iubită” și recunosc, sunt tare curioasă ce aventuri îi mai paște pe cei doi, știind ce pericole au depășit în Edinburgh și prin catacombele din Paris, dar și cum se va încheia povestea. Am unele bănuieli, ar fi ceva să se materializele, însă până ajung să vă povestesc despre al treilea volum, pe cele două le găsiți aici, pe Cartepedia, cărora eu le mulțumesc pentru exemplarele oferite.

Vă recomand cu căldură această serie, veți avea nevoie de căldură, este perfectă pentru perioada Halloween-ului sau chiar și pentru când aveți cheful de a citi o carte spooky, alertă, amuzantă pe ici, pe colo, cu o relație de prietenie care vă v-a topi inimile.

“Viața nu e făcută din alegeri. E făcută din schimburi. Unele sunt bune, altele sunt rele, dar toate au un cost.”

Ce bucurie pe sufletul meu să mă întorc așa repede în universul magiei creat de Schwab! Cred că aș putea reciti seria la nesfârșit, atât de mult mi-a pătruns sub piele și am adorat fiecare pagină din volumul trei, că doar din primele două v-am spus deja cât le-am iubit!

“Invocarea luminii” a fost un volum complex, am avut un istoric al personajelor, am fost purtată și prin amintirile lor, astfel am putut urmări mult mai bine personajele, am aflat multe despre ele, atât din trecutul lor, dar și de ce au făcut anumite alegeri, peste ce suferințe au trebuit să treacă, cum au depășit greutățile, ce le-a învățat viața, și pot spune că Holland mi-a frânt inima în mii de bucățele. Din volumele anterioare am observat că este un personaj greu încercat, iar viața sa nu a fost deloc ușoară… Eram intrigată de el de la primul volum, iar aici mi-a intrat sub piele și am ajuns să-l apreciez la fel de mult ca pe celelalte personaje. Lila a rămas la fel de slobodă la gură și chiar tupeistă, la modul că-și permite să-i dea peste nas până și regelului și nu-i pasă că acesta trebuie respectat, pentru ea e un om ca oricare altul, iar acest lucru m-a amuzat teribil. Jur, dacă mi-a plăcut de ea înainte, în acest volum a fost totală. Kell mi-a mai câștigat puțin inima și, asemeni lui Holland, mi-a arătat frânturi din amintirile sale, atașându-mă și mai tare de el, apreciindu-l pentru fiecare sacrificiu și admirându-i devotamentul și iubirea. Iar Rhy, oh Rhy, și Alucard, i-am urmărit cu sufletul la gură și m-am bucurat să îi descos mai mult în acest volum.

Personajele au rămas la fel și-n același timp s-au schimbat, au evoluat și au devenit mai puternice, mai determinate și mai curajoase în a-și exprima sentimentele, cu riscul de a răni, însă astfel se știu liniștite pentru că-și varsă amarurile. Au fost puse la grele încercări și autoarea nu le-a menajat absolut deloc, ci a fost nemiloasă în unele ipostaze, atingându-mi laturile sensibile și determinându-mă să mă tem pentru ce va urma, ținând cont că acțiunea nu a bătut nici măcar o clipă pasul pe loc și s-au întâmplat atâtea, încât nu mai știam ce să mai cred și eram bulversată. Ce timp de respiro, totul pe repede-nainte, doar era o cursă contra cronometru și întunericul părea să aibă sorț de izbândă.

Cum am spus și mai sus, un volum complex, nu doar în privința personajelor, ci și al acțiunii, al evenimentelor, toate s-au împletit atât de perfect, au curs de la sine și nu a fost nimic forțat, din contră, și am fost tot mai captivată cu fiecare capitol parcurs, cucerită și vrăjită până și de malefic. Am pătruns în gânduri, am trăit sentimente diverse, am fost trup și suflet pentru personaje, m-am simțit parte din lumea lor și m-a durut când am ajuns la final, știind de ce a fost nevoie și prin ce s-a trecut ca să se ajungă unde s-a ajuns.

Pentru mine este trilogia perfectă, a avut de toate, pornind de la universul magic, personajele conturate, legăturile de familie, sacrificiile făcute, conexiunile dintre personaje, emoțiile transmise, acțiunea alertă. A avut tot ce mi-am dorit și mă bucur enorm că am reușit să o citesc!

“Iubirea și pierderea, spuse el, sunt ca o corabie și marea. Se ridică împreună. Cu cât iubim mai mult, cu atât avem de pierdut mai mult. Dar singura cale prin care putem evita pierderea este să evităm iubirea. Și ce tristă ar fi atunci lumea!”

“Pentru că a-ți păsa de cineva era un lucru cu gheare. Gheare pe care le înfingea adânc în tine și nu-ți mai dădea drumul. A-ți păsa de cineva durea mai mult decât un cuțit în picior, mai mult decât vreo câteva coaste rupte, mai mult decât orice sângera sau se rupea și se vindeca la loc. A-ți păsa nu te distrugea ca de obicei. Era ca un os care nu se mai potrivea la loc, o rană care nu se mai închidea.”

“Lucrurile nu sunt atât de simple când vine vorba despre viață și moarte, zise el. Cu mințile și corpurile, ce este făcut nu se poate totdeauna desface.”
